Veterans Day: A day to honor and thank
Nov 08, 2018
Veterans Day is one day of the year dedicated to honoring and thanking those who have served and continue to serve our great country.
Originally called Armistice Day, commemorating the signing of the agreement that ended World War I at 11:00 A.M., November 11, 1918, this federal holiday was changed to Veterans Day in 1954. At that time, it became a day to honor all the men and women who have served in the armed forces of the United States.* This year marks the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.
The men and women of our armed forces allow us to enjoy many freedoms we often take for granted. Veterans Day is a time to honor them. Take time to talk to one or more Veteran or active military to learn about their service and sacrifices.
The Farmer's Almanac also suggests to take the time to learn how to properly display the American flag. Learn more here.
