Avoid Roofing Scams
Mar 09, 2017
Severe and damaging weather can bring out unethical scammers who are looking to take your hard-earned money. They will use high pressure, misleading tactics with a false sense of urgency or insist upon signing a contract on the spot. Often, they will assure a homeowner that their insurance company will cover all costs, many times inflated costs, and they won't be out of pocket at all.
The truth:
- A non-local company will not be here to warranty their materials and labor if needed. In fact, you will probably never see them again!
- When the insurance company denies part or all of a fraudulent claim, the homeowner will still be on the hook for the contract they sign.
- Often, these "fly-by-nights" don't carry insurance. This means any damages or injuries that occur on your property are completely on you!
- There may be a waiting list to use a local, reputable company like Ledegar Roofing, but it will be worth it in the long run. Insurance companies will cover damages for 2-3 years after they occur in most cases.
